SHARC, A Review of 2017...

Posted January 25, 2018

The January meeting was cancelled due to weather.

We received news that Ken Sell, KZØX, a former resident and member of SHARC passed away at his home in Pheonix, AZ.

News received that Nate, KEØLBI upgraded to General at the Christmas dinner meeting.

We had 20 in attendance at the Christmas/December dinner meeting.

The 6 meter repeater is on the air near Garden City, 52.820, with negative offset of 1.7Mhz and tone of 141.3. Thanks to Dale, NØKQX and others. Robert, KDØFLS installed the antenna.

The ICOM D-Star repeater that was at Scott City has been transferred to a club in Kansas City.

We have a 'key box' installed at the Finney CO LEC, this will allow member access to facilities in absence of Emerg Manag staff. Thanks to Jim, ACØE

Work was done on the Scott City/Garden City 2 meter link, Dale, NØKQX headed up the effort.

2017 Field Day was held at KDØEZS's QTH. Good turn out.

Work was being done on purging the SKs from club roster. Info being sent to webmaster.

Several from our area attended the pre-convention dinner at Martinellis restaurant in Salina. We had a good representation of western Kansas at the ARRL Convention/CKARC hamfest.

The Sept annual fall picnic was lightly attended but lots of good food.

We had news that the Dodge City K-Link site was now back on the air operated by Godfrey, KCØAUH, it fills in a "hole" in that area of the state.

There was a good turnout for the WKARC gathering/picnic/swap meet held at Matt's, KDØEZS, in Tribune. Several had a lot of gear for the swap meet. Matt's new building/garage/ham shack is real nice!

Report the Scott City, 146.10/.70 and Garden City 146.31/.91, repeaters are now activly linked. No tone or codes required.

Nate, KEØLBI upgraded to EXTRA, congrats Nate.

New ham in Scott City, Tim, KCØMDC, is new Emergency Mngt Director for Scott County. Welcome Tim!

That about wraps it up from my notes.....

Thanks for your interest.
